Christian Life On Campus
What’s In a Name?
Cambridge Christian School was founded in 1964 as Seminole Presbyterian School. The Chapel for Seminole Presbyterian Church was built right on our campus and remains here still today. If you have looked for a school lately you may notice that some schools call themselves a spiritual school or maybe they mention that they are affiliated with a church or denomination. But what does it mean to call yourself a Christian school and why is the distinction important? First and foremost, having the word Christian in our name is important. For us here at CCS, we went through a couple of different variations in our past, first with Seminole Presbyterian and then with The Cambridge School. Neither felt right until we made the decision to put the word Christian in our name. To us, this means a great deal. First, it tells anyone outside our school who we are. Second, it reminds everyone inside our school who we are. Our belief is front and center and a constant reminder of our mission.
Second, actions speak louder than words. It’s great to have our name talk about our faith, but actions need to reflect our name and our commitment. At Cambridge Christian School we teach through the lens of a Biblical Worldview, and this is woven into our curriculum and everyday life so that the educational experience and Biblical foundation become one and the same. Martin Luther King Jr. said, “Intelligence plus character–that is the goal of true education.” Intelligence is but one piece of the puzzle. The Apostle Paul tells us in Romans 5:3, “Endurance develops strength of character, which strengthens our hope of salvation.” Intelligence and the character that is developed through one’s growing faith in Christ is what we believe to be true education and is the desired outcome of the CCS experience.

Love Thy Neighbor
We believe in the Bible and the Truth of God’s Word and enjoy partnering with similar mission centric Christian churches and organizations throughout the Tampa Bay area. These relationships are part of our Love Thy Neighbor program where we support our ministry partners and develop programs where our students are actively serving others in their community.

What is an Outreach School?
We are a Christian school, but also an outreach school. This means we welcome students from all faiths and socio-economic backgrounds. Students learn in classrooms where discussions about God and the Christian faith are not only welcomed, they are encouraged. Weekly Chapel for all grade levels is part of the curriculum as well as daily Bible class. Servant leadership is part of our engaged learning mindset, and we encourage students to be disciples. From the classroom to the athletic field, our guiding principles are Jesus driven.
How Does a Christian School Minister to Families?
You will hear us say we “partner” with our families. We say this because we know that the Bible instructs us that the primary responsibility of educating a child lies with the parents. Along with the school and the Church, we are a three-legged stool that helps students and families thrive, and we offer programs to support parents in this endeavor. We have a robust Moms in Prayer, Dads in Prayer and Single Mom Ministry that meet weekly on campus in our dedicated Prayer Room. In addition, we have a large All Pro Dads Chapter right here on campus that meets monthly. Our Head of School hosts a Kingdom Parenting training for all new families at the beginning of school with an optional class in the spring. Our faculty and staff consider it a privilege to pray for your child and your family. We are here to support you in any way we can; that’s what a partnership is.
More than College Prep?
At CCS, our school motto is “Preparing for College is Important, but Preparing for Life is Essential.” Our job is to make sure our graduates are prepared for college through our award-winning academic program. Our mission is to glorify God in all that we do—to minister to students and families by sharing the message of Jesus Christ and the Bible; to demonstrate excellence at every level of academic, athletic and artistic involvement; to develop strength of character; and to serve the local and global community. Our hope is in God – that His “peace that surpasses all understanding” and the Truth of His Word will be with our students and sustain them all the days of their life. That is the ultimate Lancer Legacy.
